Toyama H.S. Sports Day : Each year, the students at every high school in Toyama (and Japan) have a Sports Day. It's kind of like field day in the States, except these are high-schoolers. It's actually really fun. Here are the photos!

54th Annual Wind Band Concert : The 54th Tomiko Wind Band Spring Concert was pretty impressive. They sang and danced and played. Sorry about the blurriness -- I was the only one not using the flash.

Toyama Graduation : This was my second graduation of the week, and it was by far the more boring. High-level apparently means ritualized beyond belief. Even the enkai wasn't that fun! :op

P.E. Competition Day (and the 120th Anniversary -- for real!) : Each year, students in Toyama take different courses in P.E. (Gym) in the fall and early winter. This year's options were kendo, judo and dance. At the end of January, the students have a competition for each course to see which homeroom is the best. I took pictures of judo and kendo since they were in the same building and because, honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot from the dance.

Elementary School Visits : On December 9 and 10, 2004, students from the Practical English Course at Toyama Nishi went to two different elementary schools and showed the children picture plays, or illustratioins with a narration. School Festival (San Pakten) : San Pakten is the school festival at Toyama Nishi, ,held once a year. The students in each homeroom put together some sort of display, presentation, or activity in a classroom and then man the rooms as students, staff and others walk around the school. My third year students did an English Cafe. These are pictures from all over the festival. Enjoy! We all had A LOT of fun! :op
